What types of Liquor Licenses are available in Marquette County

This license allows bars and restaurants to sell alcohol without needing a seating or food requirement. In order to obtain a Class C Resort license your location must have more than 100 seats and a full restaurant menu. The first 550 Class C resort licenses are transferable to any other location in the state. One can still get a Class C Resort license directly from the State.

Specially Designated Distributor Liquor License (SDD) –  The purchase of beer, wine, and spirits (such as vodka, tequila, and whiskey) by customers in their original packages for consumption outside of the licensed location is allowed.

Specially Designated Merchant License (SDM) – The sale of wine and beer to customers in their original packages for consumption away from the licensed location is possible.

Steps to getting a Marquette County Liquor License

  1. Choose a location: In order to get a liquor license in Michigan, a Letter of Intent must be signed, or a lease or deed verifying you have the right to the premises must be shown.

  2. Determine if the license you want must be purchased or if it can be obtained directly from the state.If the license must be purchased an escrow account must be opened and the transaction through those means.

  3. Send your license application to the Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC).

  4. Receive your letter of deficiency and return all of the requested documents.

  6. Interview with your license investigator.

  7. A liquor license from the Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC) will be delivered to you via mail.
